Time for an Update!

March 17, 2008

Today I discovered something quite tragic; my webhost Dreamhost does not support java server pages. So much for uploading my Facebook project. This semester one of our labs was to recreate a simple version of Facebook the online social networking phenomenon. Maybe in the next few weeks I'll finish setting up my apache server on my secondary computer.

Yeah so today has another reason to suck, due to the massive amounts of spam the Risk board has not just been closed but also deleted. I swear that is the last time I touch PHPBB. It might be easy to setup but its popularity is its biggest flaw as it is a very easy target for spammers.

Here are some random links:

My business site S9 Solutions, sounds a tad more proffesional than my gamertag slash internet alias slayernine.

My gaming rig stats page :P

CSS Demo pages, Just some stuff I made in-between classes this week.

Thats all folks.

Anonymous and Co$

January 23, 2008

I for one find the whole idea ofs scientology quite odd. Especially that part about alien overlords throwing people in volcanoes and dropping h-bombs.

Sorry if this offends anyone but I just don't take science fiction based cults that seriously :P And aparently I'm not the only one, the online group Anonymous has decided to start an internet fight with the Church of Scientology. Actually it looks like more than just an internet thing with groups forming actual protests in cities around the world. Interesting to see how this plays out.

Whats new?!

November 01, 2007

Well for starters I'm moving to a new house! This is going to be a pretty awesome upgrade including an upgrade to my current internet connection speed from 1.5mbps to 10mbps. On a sadder note my UO server crashed and all the accounts got deleted somehow. : (
Today I just launched something pretty cool, a new phpBB board for really anything. Right now its kinda geared towards Risk because I've been playing a lot of it online at Conquer Club. Its way better than the actual board game becuase you can walk away and do things and finish your turn any time within 24 hours.

Check out Conquer Club here

Hellgate London vs Ultima Online

October 29, 2007

Its been awhile since World of Warcraft came out and I'm tired of that over hyped game that has Blizzard so distracted that they sort of forgot about putting out other quality games. Sure there is this little temptation called Starcraft 2 coming out but what about Diablo 3 or even a whole new series of inovation? Well I'm hoping Hellgate London can fill this gap with an mmo game that seems to follow in the footsteps of Diablo. Coming out this Halloween, just two more days and we'll see how it goes. Still I've been playing a lot of Ultima Online. The game which I consider to be the best made MMORPG of all time. It really has a great private server community since the real servers have gone downhill considerably. There is tons of great custom content and its really great to play on a smaller server where we all know eachother. slayernine

Portal Released Today

Wednesday, October 10, 2007

Well when I logged into Steam around 12am today I noticed Portal wasn't saying "not yet released" anymore so I quickyly updated and started playing what is a series of increasingly intensive and highly addicting puzzles. It was some very well spent money considering that I got 3 neww games in one by purchasing the Orange Box package. Anyways I played until around 4am and managed to get through whole game. Got my cake

Not to spoil anything but the credits are what I think is the best part of the game. It was a very orginal game that stays true to its theme the entire time while wrapping you in its comical storyline. Also when you finish going through all the levels you get this lovely cake pictured above. But wait the game doesn't quite end their as their is still bonus maps and achievements left for future entertainment if your someone like me that just blasts through the main game in one night. I give this game a strong recommendation as is is successful all around with great graphics, sound, storyline, controls, and gameplay.

Torrent Trackers

Wednesday, October 3, 2007

I was thinking today that the fatal flaw to the whole idea of torrents is that if a tracker goes down that ultimately it makes any torrents tracked by the tracker quite useless. With the recent takedown of Demonoid.com and lockout of Canadian users it is becoming difficult to keep torrents alive and running. A new concept came to mind that in the classic style of peer to peer technology that the tracker role could also be employed as a whole rather than just a single server. This is difficult becuase the problem still remains of having a centralized way of maintaining the integrity of the tracker data.

Welcome to my domain

Friday, July 6, 2007

It has almost been two years since I purchased this domain and it has pretty much done exactly what I needed it do. Its even the number one result when you search google, though addmittedly there isn't much competition for the name Slayer Nine.
